📢 Important Updates for International Students and Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs)

Enhanced Verification Process Starting December 1, 2023

•   Objective: To safeguard prospective students against letter-of-acceptance fraud.
•   Action: All post-secondary DLIs will be required to confirm every applicant’s letter of acceptance directly with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
•   Benefit: Ensures study permits are issued based on genuine acceptance letters, protecting students from fraud.

Recognized Institution Framework for Fall 2024 Semester

•   Introduction: A new framework to acknowledge post-secondary DLIs that exceed in providing superior services, support, and outcomes for international students.
•   Advantage: Eligible DLIs will enjoy priority processing of study permits for their applicants.

Reforms in the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP)

•   Timeline: Assessment and reforms to be initiated in the coming months.
•   Goal: To align the PGWPP more closely with the needs of the Canadian labour market, regional demands, and Francophone immigration objectives.
